How to format your bulk check file

  • Updated

With TINCheck, you can verify the information of several customers and vendors in one go by uploading their data in one .txt file. You can download a sample file at the end of this article. Make sure to fill it out with your own data.

Formatting guidelines

Create a .txt file with the following information, separated by semicolons:
TIN TYPE;TIN NUMBER;TIN NAME;ACCOUNT NUMBER (optional).

  • Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Type is a one-digit number:

"1" represents an Employer Identification Number (EIN)

"2" represents a Social Security Number (SSN)

"3" represents an unknown TIN type

  • TIN Number is the taxpayer’s nine-digit SSN or EIN.
  • TIN Name is the taxpayer's full name or business name up to 40 characters. If an individual's name exceeds 40 characters, use the first 40 characters of the individual's name in the "First Name Last Name" format.
  • Account Number is an optional field for a number that will help you identify your bulk check results, for example, a bank account number.

Example

Here are two taxpayers’ data:

  • Matthew Mulberry, with an SSN of 183-24-1111
  • Acme Incorporated, with an EIN of 562-61-1111

This is how this data should be formatted in a bulk check .txt file:

  • 2;183421111;Matthew Mulberry;89765
  • 1;562611111;Acme Incorporated;89765

Once the file is ready, follow this guide on how to upload it.
